Wheel-throwing course 4wks x 1.5hrs

Service Description

Course Starts: Sunday 3rd March 9am. Wk 2 -10th March. Wk 3 -17th March. Wk 4 -24th March. Are you a fan of The Great Pottery Throwdown? Would you like to have a try for yourself? Then join me (Christine finalist from season 5) on a series of 4 x 1.5 hour pottery wheel sessions. In these wheel throwing workshops you will learn what it's like to throw on the pottery wheel and you won't need to present your finished pieces to any judges. On the first week you'll be given a demonstration by Christine, then be assigned individual wheels so that you can try all you've just been shown. You'll be shown the basic steps to creating a pot on the wheel and be given three balls of prepared clay. This will allow you to begin throwing, immediately. Christine will be on hand throughout the remainder of the session to offer practical tips and guidance.The next two sessions will begin in a similar way until you feel confident to work independently. Half an hour is added onto the end of each session to allow time to clean. At the end of each session you'll choose your most successfully thrown pot, it will then be saved until week 4, when you will be shown how to use the wheel to help you to trim your pots. Your pots will taken back to Christine's studio. Once dry they will be bisque fired as a record of your progress. However, two of the best pots that you create during the whole of this course will be fired AND glazed for you (Included in the price of this workshop) and can be collected at a later date. (Or, for a small additional cost, your pieces can be posted back to you.) This course is for people aged 16+ Please wear clothes that you are happy to get dirty. Remove rings and any hanging jewellery. Long hair must be tied back when wheel throwing. Unfortunately -unless cancelled by myself, missed sessions will not be able to be made up at a later date. So please make sure you are able to commit to all dates arranged. *NOT SUITABLE FOR THOSE FITTED WITH A PACEMAKER*
